Device Integration Requests

Minimal Support License

Device support requests are welcome from all customers, including those with the Minimal Support License.

Feature Request

Please note: This page is about device integration requests. If you are looking to suggest new functionality or improvements, please submit a feature request instead.

Tenantos supports a broad range of infrastructure devices out of the box. If your device is not yet supported, you are welcome to submit a request, provided the implementation requirements can be met.

Each request is carefully evaluated based on:

  • General market relevance and benefit to other users
  • Technical feasibility and integration complexity
  • Current development capacity
  • Device type and practical use case

While we aim to support as many devices as possible, we cannot guarantee integration in all cases - especially for niche devices or those requiring disproportionate development effort.

Quick Reference

Device Type Cost
Switched PDUs Free
KVM over IP Devices Free
Java IPMI KVM Consoles Free

How to provide device access

Important

Implementations are not possible without a test unit.

To add support for a specific device, a test unit is required. Access can be provided in two ways:

When submitting a request, please include:

  • If you provide access via your Tenantos installation: A link to the device/server and whether it is currently in use or the access details if the device can't be added yet.
  • If you provide direct access via public IP: Confirmation that the required IPs have been whitelisted.

If you would like to request an integration and meet the implementation requirements, please contact support via ticket.

Development Time

The time required for implementation depends on the current workload and the technical complexity of the device. In many cases, support can be added within a few days. For time-sensitive needs, sponsored development is available.

Supported Device Types

We are open to integrating any infrastructure-relevant device, provided it adds meaningful value to server, network, or power management operations.

Switched and Managed PDUs

Switched and managed PDUs can be integrated if they support SNMP or provide an accessible API. Most PDUs on the market support SNMP.

Metered-only PDUs

Metered-only PDUs - i.e., devices that offer monitoring but do not support remote switching of individual outlets - are currently not supported.

Self-Implementation

Power providers can also be implemented on your own using the Generic External Provider system. More information can be found here.

Requirements

Production Warning

The PDU should not be in production during development. However, integration on production devices is possible, provided a dedicated test outlet is available. While unlikely, there is always a risk that other outlets may be affected during testing. Proceeding in a production environment is done at your own risk.

Requirement Description
Model name Exact model designation
SNMP credentials SNMP Community
Web access If available
Test outlet A port that can be powered on/off for testing
Device access How to provide device access

KVM over IP Devices

Tenantos already supports a wide range of remote console solutions, including devices such as Raritan Dominion, PiKVM, Intel AMT, and similar. We are continuously expanding compatibility and are open to adding support for additional KVM switches or comparable remote access devices.

Requirements

Requirement Description
Model name Exact model designation
Web access Access to the device's web interface, if available
Device access How to provide device access

Java IPMI KVM Consoles

Alternative: Web IPMI

If your IPMI device does not support Java consoles, you can use the web IPMI feature instead, which works with all IPMI devices.

Tenantos already supports most Java-based IPMI KVM implementations. For unsupported models, please provide access to the IPMI device as described in the How to provide device access section.

Requirements

Requirement Description
IPMI model Name of the IPMI model
Device access How to provide device access

Before Submitting a Request

If your IPMI provides a Java console but you see the error "This KVM type is not supported", please try the troubleshooting steps first.

Advanced Switch Management enables features like interface enable/disable, VLAN management, and automation capabilities for supported switches.

Requirements

Requirement Description
Model name Exact model and firmware version
SSH/API access Administrative access to the switch
Test environment Non-production switch recommended
